DC Entertainment congratulates all the 2017 Eisner Award nominees and winners!

Tonight, at a ceremony held at the Hilton Bayfront in San Diego, CA, the 29th annual Eisner Awards recognized DC Entertainment across multiple categories and with a diverse selection of creators.

Tom King and David Finch won Eisner Awards for their Best Short Story “Good Boy” in Batman Annual #1. King was also recognized for his writing on Marvel’s The Vision in the Best Limited Series category.

Also recognized with multiple awards was Jill Thompson for Wonder Woman: The True Amazon in both the Best Painter/Multimedia Artist and Best Graphic Album categories. Thompson was additionally awarded an Eisner for her work on Dark Horse’s Beast Of Burden: What The Cat Dragged In.

Todd Klein received Best Lettering for his work on Clean Room, Dark Night: A True Batman Story and Lucifer, and also for his work on Dark Horse’s Black Hammer.

Love Is Love, co-published between IDW and DC Entertainment, was nominated for Best Anthology and won the category. Accepting awards for the title were DC’s Jamie Rich, IDW’s Sarah Gaydos, and writer Marc Andreyko.

Marc Andreyko’s dedication to Love Is Love in the days, weeks and months after 2016’s Pulse Nightclub tragedy additionally led to his recognition with one of the most prestigious awards of the night: The Bob Clampett Humanitarian Award, given in the name of the famed Warner Bros. Cartoons animator Bob Clampett (Beany and Cecil).

The 2017 Bill Finger Excellence in Comics Writing Award went to William Messner-Loebs and Jack Kirby, while Milt Gross, H.G. Peter, Antonio Prohías, Dori Seda, Gilbert Hernandez, Jaime Hernandez, George Pérez, Walt Simonson and Jim Starlin were all inducted into the Eisner Award Hall of Fame.

Comic-Con International is the home of the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, the most prestigious awards in comics for over two and a half decades. Hailed as the “Oscars of the comics world,” the list of 2017 Eisner Award nominees include a diverse mix of groundbreaking work that achieved wide critical and popular acclaim in all aspects of comic creation.
