Enjoy post-apocalyptic settings? Well then my friend Eclipse may be just for you, an original series by Zack Kaplan and Giovannia Timpano where the sun has become so deadly it basically kills everyone and is being harnessed by a solar energy company, thus now people live in nocturnal cities. A war has erupted between this company and a resistance, this is where I personally lose interest. It’s been done before, the evil corporation versus the under-class resistance. Granted, the daughter of this company is now getting involved in the resistance and has to decide between safety and the truth. In addition there is scheming behind the scenes on both sides coming into collusion with one another. I for some odd reason get a Walking Dead like vibe from this comic and I do not know why.

Story wise I am not blown away but the art is fantastic. The world feels dirty, grimey and all around harsh. Colorist Dispenza’s muted colors with artist Timpano’s almost under-stated detail create world that is not fun or easy to look at, but that’s the beauty of it! Whereas our inker Cittarelli appears to be just smugding some of the panels in oil or viscous black paint, which only adds to the harshness of this dead environment.  Letter Peteri does nothing cleverly groundbreaking but offers easy and simple dialogue to follow throughout this issue.
